ASHFORD.
Ashford Parish Council met on Tuesday 9th November at Ashford Garden Centre by kind permission of St. Johns. Due to covid restrictions the usual venue at the Church Hall was not available. Attended by full Council, North Devon District Councillor Mrs Andrea Davis and Devon County Councillor Mrs Pru Maskell and eleven residents. Due to the resignation of Councillor and Chairman Mike Moss the meeting was chaired by Vice Chairman Vaughan Lawson.
Mr Geoff Dwyer had kindly agreed to act as temporary Parish clerk due to the absence of the regular clerk.
The Vice Chairman opened the meeting by thanking the Garden Centre for their hospitality and past Chairmen Philip Hughes and Mike Moss for their work during difficult times. Minutes for May and August 2021 were approved and seconded with no amendments..
Planning applications for Runklins, Strand Lane and Heathers, Meadowside were approved.
The defibrillator has been checked on a monthly basis, results sent to the South Western Ambulance Service.
Concerns over speeding traffic in the narrow lanes of Ashford and the dangers at the pedestrian crossing on the A361 are causing anxiety amongst residents. Devon County Councillor Pru Maskell has agreed to look into any further safety measures which could be put in place.
Due to the resignation of former Councillor Mike Moss, there is a vacancy for a Parish Councillor, anyone interested please apply to the North Devon District Council or contact the Vice Chairman Vaughan Lawson.
The Ashford Parish communication system to enable news and views to be given to the residents has temporarily ceased due to an internal dispute but will be on the agenda for the next meeting.
Next meeting will be held at St John’s Garden Centre on Monday 13th December commencing at 7.30.
